  9. ....NewInstaller is the ultimate Addon for the Commodore
  10. Installer. Starting with v1.7 NewInstaller can also replace
  11. the Commodore Installer! So all your future installations
  12. will look like Multimedia shows!

  14. Here`s what has changed since the last release:
  15.  
  16.   · Updated the third-party libraries
  17.   · Updated, optimized and adapted the Installer script
  18.   · Updated English and German AmigaGuide® documentations
  19.   · Updated German catalog
  20.   · Added possibility to use NewInstaller as a replacement for the Commodore
  21.     Installer
  22.   · Optimized the code and changed some things
  23.   · Removed the SMTP server code from the sourcecode because there are no
  24.     public SMTP servers left
  25.   · NewInstaller is now compatible with the ScalOS Workbench replacement
  26.     (requested by many people)
  27.   · Changed sourcecode to conditional compiling (to compile versions for
  28.     BOA Gold users and public versions)
  29.   · Updated Bosnian, French, Italian, Portuguesian, Russian, Slovenian and
  30.     Swedish locale

  34. If you still don`t know, what NewInstaller is, here`s the
  35. description:

  37. There are many Software Packages on Aminet without any
  38. Installer although Commodore developed the Installer
  39. tool which provides a easy-to-use graphical user interface
  40. with powerful functions.
  41.  
  42. But many people complained that they were too lazy or it
  43. would be too hard to create a script for the Commodore
  44. Installer.
  45.  
  46. This time is over now. NewInstaller allows everyone to
  47. include a script in his Software Package for the famous Commodore
  48. Installer. But no - you need not to edit it - NewInstaller does
  49. all automatically.

  51. The only thing you need to do is including an install icon
  52. in your Software Package with default tool NewInstaller.
  53. Additionally you can change some things in the Tooltypes.
  54.  
  55. NewInstaller is fully integrated into Internet. You only
  56. need to add a tooltype and the user can online register your program
  57. if he wants. Or add an other tooltype and the user can visit
  58. your homepage immediately.

  60. But there`s more: NewInstaller can make the installation of your
  61. program to a great Multimedia event. It can display different pictures,
  62. play samples and modules. It even doesn`t matter if the installation
  63. is running on AGA/ECS/OCS/Gfx boards...It will always look as good as
  64. possible. Pictures are remapped and resized to the current screen
  65. definitions!

  67. NewInstaller is an intelligent program with powerful
  68. features. Here are some:

  70. * fully integrated into Internet (Online Registration, 
  71.   WWW visits....)
  72.  
  73. * Graphics can be used (with remapping to WB colors
  74.   and resizing to WB resolution). Compatible with
  75.   ECS/OCS/AGA and Gfx boards!

  77. * Sounds can be used

  79. * Multi language: Your Installer appears in the user`s mother tongue
  80.                   because of the locale.library support and the more
  81.                   than 15 supplied catalogs

  83. * Update function: NewInstaller keeps every Software installed with
  84.                    full path and version in mind

  86. * UnInstall function: Just add one tooltype and the user will be asked
  87.                       if an UnInstall script shall be created

  89. * Intelligent handling: If no name, author and version specified in
  90.                         the Tooltypes NewInstaller tries to figure them out                           
  91.   
  92. * Recognizing of many types: NewInstaller recognizes many filetypes.
  93.                              For example: Executables, docs, libs, fonts,
  94.                              ARexx scripts, MUI files, Prefs....
  95.                              So if there is a Fonts drawer for example
  96.                              NewInstaller will tell the user that
  97.                              the program needs XXX.font in FONTS: and so on...

  99. * Assign support: You can specify assigns in the Tooltypes which
  100.                   shall be added in S:User-Startup

  102. * Unarchive support: LHA and LZX archives will be unarchived and the user
  103.                      can select the files from the archive he wants. This
  104.                      option can be turned off in the Tooltypes.
  105.                      Then the archives will only be copied

  107. * Confirm all operations: NewInstaller tells the user every operation before
  108.                           he does it so the user has to confirm the operation
  109.                           or skip it !. This can be turned off in the
  110.                           Tooltypes

  112. That were only some of NewInstaller`s powerful features. Many things can be
  113. changed in the Tooltypes.

  115. I decided to release NewInstaller as Shareware. The registration fee
  116. is 10 DM ($8 US-Dollar) via email or 15 DM ($12 US-Dollar) via post.
